Recently I had the wonderful opportunity to listen to a broadcast from our church, (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). It was absolutely wonderful!!!!!!!! The four speakers mainly spoke on covenants. They are indeed so very important. Making and keeping covenants is a binding promise that we make with Heavenly Father. The Lord sets the terms and we follow. Everyday we have promptings, whether we choose to act on them is our chpoice, however we most definently should act on them!! To be truly happy is to keep the commandments. Ordinances and covenants are our spiritual milestones. Also how joyously do we keep the commandments? They should be something that we love and enjoy to follow. We must stand as a witness of God at ALL times and in ALL things and in ALL places. We are all walking on the straight and narrrow path, however we are all at differnet points along the path. We must strive to be not only physically clean but also spiritually clean. In life we will be tested; we will be put to trials that we may feel are going to break us. It is at times like this when we must grow closer to God, we must know that HE is there for us, He never leaves our side, He is always there telling us that we can do it. If you are a member going to the temple is an amzing thing. We should go and truly ponder questions that we have, also listen to the blessing be placed upon you and truly learn to iunderstnad them better. Never ignore a prompting, we will never kow how much we wil bless someones life by answering a prompting. He is always there for us watching, praying, and chering us on.

Always Choose Christ

Going to school is such an amazing thing!!!! You get to achieve more knowledge, grow closer to a certain subject, and meet new people. At times, life can be difficult, it can be difficult to choose good over evil. The majority of this post are my notes from a devotional we had from the president of the university. We must always remember to choose Christ in all things. The Savior promises, "Ye are commanded in all things to ask of God". Be must strive to be children of great faith. Close your ears to the world and the adversary. You indeed will have to work through difficult experiences, but what would life be if we didn't have any challenges, road blocks placed in our life? Always remember to choose the Savior and Father's Plan.

We are all created in the image of God, each of us has our own divinity. We are here on earth to have a mortal experience but with eternal choices that will help us to become heirs like Him. If you come unto Christ He will shape and mold you.

Choosing Christ will definitely not be easy. However hard work is: faith + Courage + Devotion, That is hard work. Hard work is a precious gift given from God. Be teachable, submissive, and Christ like. Humility is the opposite of pride. Humility leads us towards the trust of the Lord. Be the one to put Christ at the center of your life. The hard work is putting off the natural man and becoming a saint. Often times in life whether it be in a marriage, family, friendship, etc. we give up when the going gets ruff. WE get a divorce or split the friendship in two when our weakness's our brought out. In reality that is bringing us closer to God. Having another person help us by showing us our weakness truly does bring you closer to God, but when it is said we must fight to keep the natural man off. By following Christ we will be forever blessed, it may not occur in our time, but God has a plan and knows what blessings we need.

Choosing Christ especially helps in learning. If you ever struggle to learn, humble yourself to the Lord, get help and work very hard. Work in faith and seek his help. He is there to bowie you up. don't just learn, "Deep Learn" Truly study and know what you are learning don;t just cram. Focus on learning and put in all of your effort. The harder we strive the more we can become like Him. The Savior has all power to lift and strengthen us, we just have to ask and be willing to be strengthened.

Why not

I have recently had a change of scenery and absolutely love it!!!! In a devotional, we were talking about what can we do to show our love and thanks for such a beautiful place that has been given to us. One of the things said was, "smiling; being happy and uplifting someone's day". It is so very true, why aren't we happy 24/7? Why do we not constantly strive to be better? Sometimes it is the fact that we get caught up in ourselves and don't focus on others. When we forget ourselves the best comes out. Whenever your walking, or going anywhere why not stop and talk with someone, walk with someone, or simply be a friend if someone has fallen. Forget your pride and put a smile on your face no matter what. Your day will be brightened and you will help so many others by being happy and Christ like to them. Why not.... strive closer to be like our Heavenly Father. Being happy and kind is showing our love to Him.

I recently had to write a poem to enter for a scholarship. While writing, I realized how much looking in the mirror has helped. Here is somewhat what i wrote:

I get out of bed because I have to.
I go to school because I am forced to.
I go to class because I have to.
I go to piano lessons because my mom makes me.
I eat dinner because my parents force me to.
I go to bed because I have to.
I go to church because I am forced to......
I stop and I look in the mirror... I see nothing, no smiling person, I no I am not the person God created me to be. I don;t like what I see. I want to change, I want to be who God wanted me to be, who God knows I can be.

This morning I get out of bed because I am excited to start a bright new day.
I go to school because our memory is one of very few things that we take with us once we die and I want to have as much knowledge as possible.
I go to class and I don't just sit there, I participate, even if my answer is wrong, I am taking a chance.
I go to piano lessons because I love making music. I love being able to put all of my feelings into a piece and enable others to hear.
I eat dinner because I choose to keep my body healthy.
I go to bed because I want to be refreshed and happy for another extraordinary day.
I go to church to learn more about the wonderful father above who created this amazing planet. I want to learn more about Him. I want to honor, cherish, love, and become like Him.
So ask yourself, have you looked in the mirror lately? You may see someone who you don;t recognize, someone who you want to change. So take the stand and change today. He believes in you, even if you don't Heavenly Father believes in you. You can do anything.

Today re iterated a very true statement: Doing service to others brings tremendous happiness and joy, doing service in secret brings even greater happiness. Whether the act is small or large, doing service brings out the best in you and no matter the mood you were in, you will be grateful, happy, and joyous when the act is completed. Some acts of service may be found in just cleaning or helping someone clean their desk, do let an act go service go before you, jump in and do it, do not wait to be asked just do it. When helping and serving others we forget about ourselves and focus on that individual. We forget about us!!!! Ourselves!!!! Life is so much more enjoyable when we take ourselves out of it and focus on others. When you start thinking about yourself you may get down, sad, and depressed, which is not letting your light shine. Service that is the key. So today forget about your needs, your wants, your problems, and your pains, and get up and serve.

Shine: (V).

1. To give forth or glow with light; shed or cast light. 2. To be bright with reflected light; glisten; sparkle. 3. (of light) to appear brightly or strongly, especially uncomfortably.

I chose this title for my blog because throughout life we should not be afraid to be ourself. Shine; let people know who you are, don't hide, let your light shine. True friends will love you for who you truly are. Also Shining brightly with your own personal beam not someone else's will help lead others to stand up and shine with their own light.

20 Seconds... all you need

"You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it"
-Benjamin Mee From WE Bought a Zoo
20 seconds of sheer bravery is all you need. I have tried this three times now and it has been phenomenal!!!!! You never know what will come but you must try. I challenge you to have 20 seconds of sheer bravery today.
